GENERAL
There is extremely little time for training for
umpires before ERNA competition starst. Therefore, each and every one of the
individual umpires must go through the material available beforehand and do
serious self-studing.
Training days are Sunday and Monday.
2.
CONCEPT
Training provided by umpire project is given as
self-studies material and Portal in www.helsb.org.
Training provided by ERNA is given mostly as
lectures and briefings.
Individual umpires must go through their areas with
Senior Umpires and “dry run” different scenarious.
Senior umpires must prepare “dry run” exercises
for different scenarious for their CP’s, mailboxes and equipment checks.

MINIMUM STUDIES FOR INDIVIDUAL UMPIRES
Each Fixed Operations Umpire must find out from
self-studies and from his/her Senior umpire how to do following tasks before
he/she is deployed to his/her task:
Procedures for emergencies and umpires actions
to take.

to handle team support and visitors at the CP

is allowed, what not allowed for teams and team support at CP
Gatekeeper work

to log arrival time

How
to log and report teams arriving but not reporting

How
to dispatch teams to right task
CP reporting and preparations

How
to prepare for CP duty
·
From
where and who gets the material needed at CP duty (competition forms, umpire
equipment, water for teams and umpires, etc)
·
How
to handle scoring forms, etc, and where to return them

Normally,
the CP recce is take place at the same time as ERNA briefings. Therefore, for the
recce for first part CP (those before recce task) some one else than the Senior
Umpire of the CP needs to be assigned.
